Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a book on shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan in Patna on November 15, 2009. The book "Shehnai Vadak Bismillah Khan" is written by Murali Manohar Srivastava and published by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi.Addressing the function, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that the birth anniversary of shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan would be celebrated as a state function on March 21. The state government would also set up a park in his memory in Patna."A park with Bismillah Khan statue would also be set up at Dumraon,the birth place of the great shehnai player," he added.Photo: Aftab Alam Siddiqui

एक मंच पर दिखे नीतीश, जगदानंद व प्रकाश झा

पटना लम्बे अंतराल के बाद रविवार की शाम मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार, लालू-राबड़ी मंत्रिमंडल में मंत्री रहे, बक्सर के सांसद जगदानंद व फिल्मकार प्रकाश झा एक मंच पर दिखे। राजनीतिक हलकों में देर शाम से यह मंचीय एकजुटता चर्चा का विषय बनी रही। एक जमाने में नीतीश कुमार के खास समझे जाने वाले जगदानंद के साथ इन दिनों मुख्यमंत्री का संवाद नहीं है। कुछ वर्षो से मुख्यमंत्री के करीबी माने जाने वाले प्रकाश झा पिछले लोकसभा चुनाव में लोजपा की टिकट पर चुनाव लड़ गये थे।
मुख्यमंत्री सचिवालय संवाद में आयोजित यह कार्यक्रम शहनाई वादक भारत रत्न बिस्मिल्लाह खां के जीवन पर मुरली मनोहर श्रीवास्तव द्वारा लिखी पुस्तक का विमोचन का था पर इशारे-इशारे में ही राजनीति पर भी खूब चर्चा हुई।
बात संवाद से ही शुरू की मुख्यमंत्री ने और कहा-मतभेद हो सकता है पर संवाद जरूर होना चाहिए। सलाह दी-राजनीति करने वालों को करने दीजिए राजनीति पर यह मान लीजिए कि अगर नेता की चर्चा खत्म हो गयी तो उसका बाजार भाव गिर जाता है। वहीं कुछ लोग चर्चा में बने रहना जानते हैं। साहित्यिक कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री ने छायावाद का सहारा लिया और सेतु की बात करते हुए आयोजकों की ओर इशारा करते हुए कहा कि-नदी के दो पाट को जोड़ने का काम करते रहना चाहिए। चाहें तो आप विधान पार्षद प्रेम कुमार मणि की सेवा ले लीजिए। कार्यक्रम के दौरान मुख्यमंत्री बीच में बैठे थे और उनके एक किनारे प्रकाश झा और दूसरे किनारे जगदानंद की सीट थी। प्रकाश झा से तो उन्होंने मंच पर ही गुफ्तगू की और कार्यक्रम के आखिर में जगदानंद को अल्पाहार के लिए बुलाकर ले गये
वैसे बिस्मिल्लाह खां पर भी मुख्यमंत्री ने अपनी बात रखी और यह एलान किया कि इस शहनाई वादक की जन्म दिवस को अगले वर्ष से राजकीय समारोह के रूप में मनाया जायेगा और राजधानी का एक पार्क उनकी स्मृति में बनेगा। सांसद, जगदानंद ने कहा कि बिस्मिल्लाह खां ने स्थानीय स्वर को विश्व का स्वर बनाया। सांसद अली अनवर ने भी इस मौके पर अपने विचार रखे

Bismillah Khan Unites Rival Politicians; at least Temporarily

In a rare picture of political togetherness, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Independent MP Jagadanand, and noted filmmaker Prakash Jha shared the same platform on Sunday at the release of a book on world-acclaimed Shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan.Highlighting the life story of Khan and his music career that exceeded six decades, Kumar said that the state would honor the Shehnai player at a function next year to mark his birth anniversary.The Chief Minister also pledged to get a park constructed in Patna to honor Khan who, he said, brought joy to millions of people across the globe.The book written by Murli Manohar Srivastava celebrates the life of Khan, his humble beginning, and his contributions to the world of music in a very lucid manner that is certain to interest people of all ages, Kumar said.The event was particularly interesting in the light of reported personal grudges against the three men sharing the same platform.As reported, Jagadanand, the former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, and Nitish Kumar have not spoken to each other in years. Also, Jha, known for his several socially hard-hitting films like Gangajal and Apharan, after sharing friendly relationship with Kumar until he was denied a Janata Dal (U) ticket for the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year, has hardly kept in touch with the Chief Minister after making an unsuccessful bid from Bettiah on a Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) ticket.Kumar, in an attempt to mend ways with both leaders, suggested keeping line of communication open with each other despite political and ideological differences among them. He later invited both to have snacks with him.
